


The Facts
Pregnant and postnatal women:

1 in 5 women experience pelvic girdle pain
-
Most pelvic girdle pain experienced during pregnancy will go within the first 3 months, but for the small few the pain can persist
-
100% of women experience ‘tummy gap’ during pregnancy (this is normal to allow room for the baby to grow) however 45% of women continue to have ‘tummy gap’ at 6months and 33% 12months
-
50% of those still with a tummy gap are likely to have some pelvic floor dysfunction.

In 2022/23 1 in 4 of all UK births were c – section. With induction rates increasing, intervention rates increasing and births increasing it is expected this number to quickly become 1 in 3.

85% of vaginal deliveries sustain perineal trauma during labour

45% of women continue to have urine incontinence 7 years post-natally
-
50% of post-natal women will have a degree of prolapse
Women:

1 in 3 women have pelvic organ prolapse
-
50% of menopausal ladies will have symptoms of prolapse +/- leaking exaggerated by oestrogen changes
-
1 in 4 women (without having children) who practice higher impact/ volume training are also associated with leaking

This is for ladies that may leak or have symptoms of prolapse (heaviness, bulging, dragging sensation).

The MummyMOT®
The hour long first session aims assess and guide women through post-natal recovery. The MummyMOT® is suitable for any Mum who has had their 6-8 week post-natal GP/ midwife check. This includes women who may have given birth years ago.
